Description

Well, this has been a long time coming for me, but here they are: my first two attempts at drawing gesture drawings. For those who don't know, gesture drawings are basically sketches that display no other details than the simplest outlines of action, form and pose for any organic figure, usually people. These usually involve the artist drawing a series of poses taken by a model or reference pic in a time limit between 30 seconds and up to 5 minutes per pose. As noted by my own handwriting, it is important when sketching these to not use anything more complex than a simple C-Curve, S-Curve, or I-Line [CSI for short].

These two poses were from the following video that I watched on YouTube that explained the basics of drawing gesture: www.youtube.com/watch?v=74HR59…

Personally, I think I did well following along with the video's pace give and take a few more seconds of me overthinking a few parts and putting down the Line of Action for each one. Overall, I'm generally satisfied with my first attempt, and I had a lot of fun making the beast in the top right part of the page. With my thoughts out of the way, enjoy--or not. It's up to you.
